About Me: Professional
Education has always been the cornerstone to my success in the professional arena. I graduated with a B.S. in Biology from Westfield State University in 2009, and a M.S. in Education from the University of New England in 2014. Rather than focus on one specific concentration of science, I decided to study all the major branches to get a broad perspective. This eventually helped me obtain a job with Acadia National Park. While working for the National Park Service, I was able to collaborate and lead a variety of projects, including public outreach. I found my niche working with park visitors on a daily basis, and explaining the mission of the Resource Management Division. This usually involved me giving mini-science lessons on the fly, and allowed park visitors to see and understand field work in progress. We would routinely bring students, elementary to college age, into the park, in an effort to help them experience science issues. When attending conferences I would be asked to summarize and explain the background of our work. It was in this setting where I knew my true calling was that of teaching.

About Me: Personal
I was born in Marlborough, Massachusetts to a loving family. I lived in Massachusetts until my sophomore year of college when my parents purchased a home in the small town of York, Maine. I fell in love with the area, and moved here. The greatest part of living in Maine is the close proximity to the ocean, lakes, and mountains. I enjoy all the perks of hiking, biking, kayaking, rafting, camping, skydiving, and more, as being outdoors is a large part of who I am. I was extremely lucky to work for the National Park Service right out of college. This was a great opportunity for me to mix my love of being outdoors with the task of protecting the beautiful landscape of coastal Maine.
Another interest I have is traveling. I have been lucky to travel to 14 countries, most of the East Coast, and a few states out West including Hawaii, Arizona, and California. I completed a month long backpacking trip in Europe with two close friends of mine during the winter of 2013. We started in Amsterdam and made our way via trains, taxis, buses, ferries, and planes to Greece. We met a lot of interesting people along the way, and have stories that will last a lifetime.
